Bedroom Makeover With The Simba Ludlow Bed Frame

April 25, 2024

You know what it’s like when you have kids, the house doesn’t feel like your own anymore.  Everywhere you look, there are toys, clothes, and random handprints of what you hope is chocolate.

For most people, the bedroom is the one place you can make your own.  Winding down for the day in a clean, tidy and stylish space is amazing.

Until recently, our room was entirely the opposite.  We’d promised ourselves that we’d do a bedroom makeover when we moved our youngest child into their room.  And what do you know? It’s three years later and our room was still a cluttered mess full of junk, dust, mismatched furniture (not in the cool way) and a very uncomfortable bed.

When it comes to a good night’s sleep, and the overall look of your room, you have to choose the right bed and mattress, which is why we opted for the Ludlow bedframe by Simba.  Why this one? Well, it ticked all the boxes.  I knew I wanted a fabric frame with a high headboard.  Our previous bed had a very short one and you could barely see it over the pillows.

The design is quite minimalist and we opted for the pebble grey option.  Usually, I’m over the grey interior trend, but a bed is something that you’ll have for a long time, so having a more striking colour (I love the blue option) would limit our options for decoration furnishings in the future. The pebble colour will complement neutral tones, blues, greens and pinks.  So if I ever want a refresh, I just switch up the rug, curtains and bedding, and it’s a whole new look without having to buy a new bed frame.

The best thing about the Ludlow frame (other than how nice it looks) is the ottoman storage underneath.  With so much stuff in our house, we don’t have the luxury of furniture that doesn’t pull its weight in the storage department.  Luckily, there’s plenty of room underneath for clothes, shoes and other items we need to store but don’t need every day

Simba offers an installation option with its delivery service, which is great if you don’t have the time or energy to build it yourself.  There’s also the peace of mind that it’s been done properly. We didn’t go for this option as the bed arrived before we had finished decorating our room, and I didn’t want to run the risk of ruining it with paint.   However, it was very easy to put together and all of the tools and instructions were included.

So why the Ludlow frame? Well, having already bought a Simba hybrid mattress a while back, I know that they make good quality items.  Plus the previous bed I bought, wasn’t particularly good quality, so I wanted to make sure that I chose something that would last without finding myself tightening screws and nuts every couple of months.  Also, it looks amazing.  It’s a clean, elegant design, which is what I like and the colour works perfectly for us.

The Simba Ludlow is available in a range of styles and colours. We opted for the double, which starts at £699 depending on which storage options you go for.

Accessorising

It just wouldn’t be right to get a new bed and not treat yourself to some lovely new bedding too. I’m loving the blush pink colour at the moment. We’re still on the hunt for a large freestanding mirror, curtains and some plants to finish off the room but so far, I’ve found some lovely accessories to complement our new bed.
