Last summer I found myself in the position of having to research and buy everything I would need for the arrival of my first child. I have to say it was a little overwhelming. The most expensive item(s) you’ll buy will be baby’s first pram.
Since we were also moving house over the summer, we were going to have to be careful what we spent our money on and didn’t have the luxury of going for the higher end models which can easily cost over £1000.
At the beginning of my pregnancy I signed up to every expectant mum newsletter going, Boots, Mothercare, Bounty, Emma’s Diary etc. Usually I scanned through them quickly and deleted them. Then one day I happened to scroll through a Bounty newsletter and saw what seemed to be an excellent deal for a complete travel system by Joie sold through Precious Little One.
Now, I must admit I had never heard of the brand before and started doing a little research and it seemed to be one of the best mid-priced systems out there. A quick trip to our local Mothercare to test drive it around the shop and we decided to go for it.
Best decision ever. For under £500 we got a Joie Chrome frame, pram/carrycot, pushchair (with all the accessories, Gemm car seat and i-base. Even better, it also came with a Joie Commuter Travel Cot and Mimsy Snacker high chair.
My little boy is only 10 weeks old as I write this so we haven’t needed to use the pushchair yet but we use the pram every day to go back and forward to baby classes, the shops and out for walks.
Is it easy to build?
Extremely. Put the wheels and the handlebar on and you’re good to go.
How does it move?
Not an all-terrain chassis like some of the specialist prams out there but manages most environments pretty well. I have no problems around my estate with its bumpy, uneven paths. It also has a really sturdy break

- Easy to put up and fold down
- Compact (will take up even less boot space when we switch to the pushchair)
- Removable covers for washing
- No adaptors needed
Cons
- Not the lightest
- Grips on the handlebar could be made out of a better, softer material

Recommended?
Definitely. I have very little to complain about with this product, especially at this price. If you’re looking for good value without sacrificing other features then look out for Joie products.
